Learning from small, women-owned businesses
Women entrepreneurs are playing a pivotal role in enhancing economic growth and generating employment. India now has 15 million women-owned enterprises, which provide direct employment to an estimated 25 million people.
Investing enough efforts into creating opportunities for female entrepreneurs can lead to over 30 million women owned enterprises potentially creating 150-170 million jobs by 2030.There are plenty of inspiring stories paving the way for future aspiring entrepreneurs. We met one such revolutionary lady in Bihar who started her farming business at a small scale to sustain her household but started generating profits after expanding it and generating jobs for her family members. Now, she is training other women to set up their own business.
Women entrepreneurship provides an opportunity to change the economic and social trajectory of India if there are policies for appropriate training, incentivisation and recognition for these women.
